The Word "Crazy" is Being Thrown Around Quite a Bit These Days.

18 years ago, a group of crazy people gathered in the first ever “Leadership Retreat” sponsored by The Saint Paul's Baptist Church. On that faith-filled Friday, they put their heads together to explore creating a place where needs could be met, hurts could be healed and problems could be solved. Sounded crazy but people showed up.

Almost two decades later, we literally have folks boarding buses at remote parking lots and walking on roads with no sidewalks just to attend worship – crazy. In the beginning, feeling comfortable meant just creating a nice choir, a strong ushers group, having calm church meetings and a safe, loving, nonjudgmental place for those who otherwise would never have set foot in church. Now making our friends comfortable means coming early or late and if you come in between, giving up a seat! Again, that's crazy.

Indeed we are a crazy church that thrives on doing crazy stuff. We're not about numbers and we didn't plan on our attendance DOUBLING in less than 2 years! What we are about is intentionally doing anything within our power to enable people to connect with Christ. And in this season - it's a campaign called, That's Crazy!

It's still about creating a comfortable, loving, nonjudgmental environment where needs can be met, hurts can be healed and problems can be solved and that means making sure that we continue the dream so that thousands more of our friends can find their way to Saint Paul's.

Crazy Campaign is not a Fund Drive

There's no numeric goal at the top of some dollar pyramid. And there's no phantom fat cat that's going to make up the difference. Crazy Campaign isn't a building campaign. This is about more than inanimate objects like brick and mortar. Often building campaigns can even make people feel like brick and mortar as they're cajoled into piling up checks, one on top the other, through inspirational props like thermometers.

Crazy Campaign isn't a Stewardship Campaign. While done by well meaning churches, these campaigns get caught up in teaching people to pinch pennies and give the difference to the project at hand. There is some real value to this but ultimately God doesn't want people to be stingy. God wants us to be wise with the money with which God has entrusted us.

Crazy Campaign is Based on Scripture

If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. That was Paul's proclamation in 2 Corinthians 5:13. The Crazy Campaign causes us to ask the question, “If I were to be out of my mind in love with God and people, what would I do for the kingdom of God? Not for money's sake but for people's sake? Yes, there's a money element, a building element and a stewardship focus to Crazy Campaign, but ultimately it's about being wise with God's money. Ask yourself this question, Of all the things I spend money on, how much is spent out of the love for people and their relationship with God?

.All we're asking of you is to go on a spiritual journey.  The first decision is
asking yourself and then telling God what you are willing to consider
surrendering.  Not what you are going to give but what you would be willing
to surrender if God asked.  The second thing is to listen after asking God,
"What do you want?"  This can be a difficult thing to do which is why this
is a spiritual journey.  God doesn't leave messages on our voicemail.  Wish
God did, but I've never had them.  Finally, do it.  Ask yourself, "What do I
already own that God is telling me to sacrifice.  If you walk with us
through the 3 steps of this spiritual journey, with intentionality and
integrity you will come to a place of peace and spiritual maturity.  It's an
honor to be part of a campaign that is making a difference for the kingdom
of God.  Join with us today...Surrender, Listen and Do it!
